George Zimmerman Stopped for Speeding in Texas

George Zimmerman was stopped by police for speeding in Forney, Texas Sunday afternoon, TMZ is reporting.
During the stop, he said he was headed "nowhere in particular" and told the officer he had a gun in his glove compartment.
Zimmerman was given a warning and told to "Have a nice trip," TMZ reported.
So... he's in the news again, huh?

Let's see: Recently this murderer got away with killing an unarmed teenager walking home from the store.

Then he mysteriously appeared on the scene of an accident, just blocks away from where he killed the teenager.  This story, by the way, was only reported by his buddies on the Sanford Police Department -- you know, the ones who let him go the night he murdered a kid, after not bothering to test him for drugs or alcohol. And there wasn't a single camera around to snap a picture.

In 2013. Right.

Now he's speeding through Texas, armed, with no destination in mind at all.

Of course he has to be armed. He needs to protect himself from some vigilante who may want to take the law into his own hands.

Get the irony there?

But let's give Old Georgie the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he was speeding to help more invisible people get out of their invisible overturned vehicle.

Just as I predicted, he'll be in the news again and again. Guarantee he'll be in real trouble again very soon. And he'll go to jail for something else, just like OJ. Get out your crayons and mark this down.

Republican Jackass of the Week

She's Jodie Laubenberg. She's a Regressive republican. And she's from Texas. Where else.

Over the last couple of weeks, thousands of Democratic, Independent, and even Republican Texas women have spoken out and protested the Republican-controlled Texas legislature, hell bent on inflicting a package of controversial, repressive anti-abortion restrictions on the women of that state. It was prevented from passing a couple of weeks ago thanks to a 13-hour filibuster made by Texas Democratic State Senator Wendy Davis.

But this week an abortion-restricting bill is being pushed by State Rep Jodie Laubenberg. The bill would force the closure of 37 out of the state's 42 women's clinics. And it would make no exception for victims of rape or incest to the proposed 20-week abortion ban.

Democrats in the state argued to include this important exception. But Laubenberg stated this wasn't necessary.

"In the emergency room, they have what's called rape kits, where a woman can get cleaned out," said the biology-impaired Republican woman.

Really, Jodie? You think rape kits "clean out" women, uh, down there? This suggests she actually believes rape kits offer an optional abortion procedure.

Completely false. And idiotic. Rape kits are designed to collect DNA, not magically perform abortions.

Hard to believe a woman would say something so far from the truth regarding a matter of her own biology.

Jodie now joins the ranks of Republican middle aged men who failed basic 9th grade biology -- including one who thought that pregnancy from rape was "intended by god," and another who thought that women can't get pregnant from rape because "the body has a way to shut that whole thing down."

Wow.

And she joins them in the Hall of Republican Jackasses.

Democratic California Gov Creates Surplus

From Addicting Info:

California Governor, Without Republicans to Obstruct Him, Creates Budget Surplus

In February Texas republican Governor Rick Perry made a trip to California. His supposed intent was to lure California businesses to Texas. The premise is that Texas is more business friendly than California. To be sure, Texas is a state that gives away over $19 Billion in taxpayer dollars even as it cuts basic and higher education. Instead of reinvesting its surplus in human capital, it is attempting to change the Texas constitution to return surplus dollars.

California has been seen as a basket case with regards to its exploding budget deficits. Interesting enough this was occurring during the administration of Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger. He attributed the deficits to reduced tax revenues and overspending. He cut programs in draconian fashion but could never escape the reality that he was making the problem worse. Ultimately he did what both Reagan and Bush did, leave exploding deficits to their successors.
California now has a budget surplus. Depending on whose numbers one uses, it is anywhere from $1.2 billion according to the Governor or $4.4 billion according to the Legislature’s independent financial analyst. How did California do it and what should they do about the surplus?

Democrats President Bill Clinton, President Barack Obama, and Governor Jerry Brown did not attempt an ideological game with blinders to the actual results. They tried basic arithmetic. They raised taxes. Interesting enough, the results were the same.

Bill Clinton got a balance budget with a surplus. Barrack Obama is seeing a budget deficit that is shrinking faster than anyone expected. Suffice it to say that the budget deficit hole left by two wars, two massive tax cuts, and a massive drug program on the credit card by the previous administration along with an irresponsible & intransigent Congress cannot be solved in two terms.

Jerry Brown remembered basic arithmetic as well as he brought California to a budget surplus. He raised taxes on the wealthy and cut programs (some more than he should). Does this sound familiar, the balanced approach? Time and time again the evidence is out there that it works and it improves the economy for all.

Republican Jackass of the Week

Texas governor Rick Perry.

You may remember his embarrassing run for president during the Regressive republican "Clowncar of Buffoons" primary last year, when he ran against such legendary Mensa-types as Michelle Bachmann, Donald Trump, Rick Santorum, Pizza King Herman Cain, Ron Paul, the "rent is too damn high" guy, and the guy who wants to colonize the moon while 8 year olds clean school toilets, Newton Gingrich.

Rick Perry was the one who vehemently wanted to shut down 3 agencies, very specifically the Department of Education, the Department of Commerce, and... "oops".

This was also the guy who had a ranch named "Ni**erhead."

But he was able to remember one thing at each campaign stop: to oppose federal spending no matter what.

“Washington’s insatiable desire to spend our children’s inheritance on failed stimulus plans and other misguided economic theories have given us record debt and left us with far too many unemployed,” he said at an event to kickoff his campaign last year.

He bragged about how Texas's economy was allegedly booming. And he was one of the nutjobs who wanted that state to secede from the union (treasonous as well as illegal).

Who needs the federal government and their handouts? Right, Rick?

Turns out he does.

The little man with the big mouth begged President Obama to declare his state and its fertilizer exploding town a disaster area -- and he had his big hat in his little hand begging for money.

What happened to all that swagger? All the arrogance? How about that Teabagger mentality that said "no" to aid for hurricane-damaged New England states unless we find something to cut in the budget elsewhere to make up for it?

Why ain't good ol' boy Rick and his ten-gallon hat gettin' together with all them thar real 'mericans and pickin' themselves up by their own bootstraps? Why aren't the Teabaggers refusing all that dirty money that will be shipped in from the Blue States?

Because they're phonies, liars and hypocrites.

Rick Perry, standing there with his open palm up, waiting for a handout -- you know, the "free stuff" his kind pretends to hate.

Republican Jackass of the Week

Texas Senator John Cornyn.

Did you know that people from all over the world are now illegally flooding into the US through Texas? I didn't either. But this guy certainly thinks so.

“You gotta stop the flow of people coming across and my friends who have places in South
Texas tell me -- as a matter a fact a guy told me last night -- he said we’ve got people coming across our place speaking Chinese, French and basically all of the languages in the world, coming through and across our southern border,” Cornyn said during an interview.

The fact is our Texas border is more secure than ever before. Border crossings are at a 40 year low. Undocumented immigration is at or below net zero. That means that not only are very few coming in, but more are being sent in the opposite direction.

President Obama has tripled border security since taking office. Border agents patrol every single mile of the border every day and the vast majority of the border already meets Homeland Security’s highest standards of security.

But those facts don't make the case that Cornyn wants to make. They don't serve the narrative he wants to promote. The time when undocumented immigrants were pouring over the border was during the Bush administration. Did people like Cornyn whine and make a lot of noise back then? Of course not. They kept their big mouths shut like good, obedient little Republicans.
