Joe Isuzu: Willard Romney's Inner Self

Gov Christie Gushes over Pres Obama

Republican Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey has always been blunt and outspoken. But yesterday he committed blasphemy on Fox by gushing over President Obama's commitment in cutting red tape to get help to the states that need it most after Hurricane Sandy's devastation.

Maybe it's because he honestly wants to put politics aside and be seen as a guy who gets things done in an emergency for his state.

Or maybe he doesn't really want a President Willard, who will run for re-election in 4 years. Christie himself wants to run in 2016. Or am I being too cynical?

Republican Jackass of the Week

Meet Richard Mourdock of Indiana.

This is the far rightwing fringe candidate who beat longtime, well-respected Republican Richard Lugar last spring in the Indiana primaries. He will now run in the general election in hopes of becoming senator of Indiana.

This Teabagger assclown first received attention last spring when he said "bipartisanship ought to consist of Democrats coming to the Republican point of view".

Got that? Compromise means doing things his way.

Now he's said, "Life is that gift from God that I think even if life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen."

Got that, women? If you're raped and become pregnant, it's a "gift" and your god "intended it to happen."  This extremist believes abortion should be banned in all cases, even in the case of rape and incest.

So if you are raped in a parking garage, don't even think of an abortion. Our Jackass of the Week wants to legislate forcing you to take that rapist's pregnancy to term.

And he's not alone.

You remember Todd Akin, another far rightwing Teabagger and high school biology failure, who said, "If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

Got that, women? There's apparently an invisible, magical eject button in the female anatomy that simply won't let you get pregnant if you're raped. Nevermind the tens of thousands of actual cases that prove the opposite. Listen to the Teabagger.

And he's not alone.

Willard Romney's vice presidential pick, the Kill Medicare Guy, also believes abortion should be illegal even in the case of incest or rape.

They've even written it into their official Regressive republican platform.

You vote for Willard Romney and this is what you get.  I can't imagine even one American woman stupid enough to elect this bunch of science-impaired yahoos to legislate on their behalf.

Willard Romney's Tax Plan

President Obama clearly showed he's in command of foreign affairs last night.  Willard made it painfully clear he's not ready for prime time.  But to be fair, Willard DOES have a tax plan.

Click here to check it out.

Third and Final Presidential Debate

I feel so much better now.

Another decisive debate win for President Barack Obama. This was the best debate of the three. On the all-important matter of foreign policy, the President showed his wisdom, intelligence and tact as he laid out a plan for a safe, strong, secure America.

Willard Romney, who has zero foreign policy experience (except for proselytizing in France and shipping his money to the Cayman Islands and Switzerland), not only flip flopped on his previous statements, he actually suddenly agreed with President Obama on almost every issue. He was clearly unprepared for the debate and lacks the savvy and knowledge for the job.

  • Just weeks ago he said "it is a mistake to broadcast timelines, if you're the commander-in-chief, to broadcast timelines so our enemies are in the know about our next move." But in tonight's debate he suddenly proclaimed he agrees with President Obama that we should leave Afghanistan by the end of 2012
  • After being hawkish on attacking Iran, he now suddenly agrees that a military response should be "a last option"
  • He famously stated he "wouldn't move heaven and earth to find Osama Bin Laden" and would ask Pakistan's permission to track him down in their country, but suddenly agreed with the President's order to take him out
  • After being hawkish on Syria, now he suddenly agrees that the US military shouldn't get involved
I wonder how this Moderate Mitt is going over with the far rightwingers and the Teabaggers in his party. I guess it really doesn't matter what he says on any issue, since their hatred for the President is the only reason they're behind Willard.

President Obama had some great lines tonight, too. "I think Governor Romney maybe hasn't spent enough time looking at how our military works. You mentioned the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets because the nature of our military's changed."

"We have these things called aircraft carriers, governor, where planes land on them."

“Gov. Romney, I’m glad you recognize al-Qaida is a threat, because a few months ago when you were asked what is the biggest geopolitical group facing America, you said Russia, not al-Qaida,” Obama said. “You said Russia. And the 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back. Because the Cold War has been over for 20 years. But Governor, when it comes to our foreign policy, you seem to want to import the foreign policies of the 1980s, just like the social policy of the 1950s, and the economic policies of the 1920s.”

Bang! Zoom! Pow! I expected to see Batman fight graphics appear on the screen.

“Nothing Gov. Romney just said is true, starting with this notion of me apologizing, that has been the biggest whopper that’s been told in the course of this campaign and every fact checker and every reporter who has looked at it governor, has said this is not true.”

The fact is that when the President speaks, dozens of cameras record every word.  If he had ever apologized, you know Fox would be running that tape in an endless loop 24/7. But they aren't. Because it doesn't exist.

All instant polls showed that the President won this debate by large margins. CBS Snap Poll: Obama Wins Third Debate 53% to 23% -- that's by 30 points!

Beyond snappy lines and polls showing Willard's obvious weakness in foreign matters, President Obama knew what he was talking about and had credibility. The world was watching. And they know he means business. Ask Osama Bin Laden.

Now take Bob Schieffer's advice: "Go Vote. It'll make you feel big and strong."

SNL's Sad Mouse

A short film done in the style Saturday Night Live used to make 'em back in the 70s.

Dumped by his girlfriend and his family the same week, a sad mouse (singer Bruno Mars) just wants people to wave back...

Barack is Baaaaack!

This time, he wasn't so generous or polite in allowing dozens of big fat lies spewed from the mouth of Willard Romney to go unanswered.   President Obama was tough, firm, strong and presidential.

Some of my favorite moments:

Willard claimed that the administration took 2 weeks before stating the Benghazi killings were acts of terror. When Willard asked the President if he indeed referred to it a terrorist attack the very next day in the Rose Garden, President Obama replied, "that's what I said."  Again, Willard goaded him with the same question. "Please proceed," the president politely replied.

And then the lie. Willard made the false claim that the administration took 14 days to call it an act of terror. President Obama calmly said, "check the transcript." Even veteran news reporter Candy Crowley stated, "he did call it terrorism".  And here is the tape, proving Willard to be the liar that he is:

Apparently video tape has a Liberal bias.

And then there's the whining that increased security at the Benghazi location was denied. State Department cables prove that there was no request for increased security at the Benghazi diplomatic location, let alone a denied one.

And what gall to whine about "denied security," when it was the Regressive republicans in congress who cut security to embassies and consulates by $500 million.

Here is a rightwing Regressive republican House member from Utah admitting that they cut security funding:

And then the Regressive republicans' war on women.

When asked months ago, Willard Romney refused to say whether he'd sign the Lilly Ledbetter equal-pay law. He avoided the question again last night.   From Think Progress:

At Tuesday’s presidential debate, both candidates were confronted with a question about equal pay for women, who currently make 77 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts. President Obama touted his first bill signed into law, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which gave women more flexibility to sue over pay inequity.

Romney avoided the question, instead choosing to talk about how he made an effort to hire women during his governorship (a claim later contested by Massachusetts women’s advocacy groups). Soon after the debate, however, senior Romney adviser Ed Gillespie told the Huffington Post that, while Romney would not repeal the Lilly Ledbetter Act, he “was opposed to it at the time” and would not have signed it.

"I care for 100% of the American public," Willard claimed, in yet another attempt to refute the disturbing hidden-camera video of him clearly stating, at great length, that he has disdain and contempt for 47% of Americans who he believes are victims and moochers who "refuse to take responsibility for themselves," since they don't pay income taxes. Those moochers and takers Willard was talking about apparently include American veterans who don't pay income taxes; current American military personnel who don't pay income taxes; retirees; and those at or below the poverty line who don't pay income taxes -- yet still pay sales taxes, payroll taxes, gas taxes, property taxes, etc.

Willard Romney Debates Himself

Here he debates himself on just 3 issues:
  • he will / he will not cut taxes on the rich;
  • we need more teachers / we need to cut teachers;
  • pre-existing conditions are /are not covered in his plan

Liar with the President

Thanks, Al.

Student is Overwhelmed Meeting VP Joe Biden

From barackobama.com:

Standing at the back of a packed high school gym as Vice President Biden finished speaking in Ft. Myers, Florida, on Saturday was 15-year-old Kobe Groce. He cradled a "Forward" sign, hoping to get the Vice President to sign it for his brother, Kaelin. After unsuccessfully trying to make it to the front of the event, a staff member asked if he could help. Kobe told his story, and the staffer left for a moment and came back, saying simply: "The Vice President would like to meet you."
"I turned around and looked back at my mother as I was walking with the staffer in disbelief—I didn't know how to react. I was about to meet the man that helped make my life so much better.
"My mother, Jessica, raised us as a single mother. She's a teacher and has worked so hard to support her four children. I wanted the Vice President to know that yes, we are definitely better off than we were four years ago. My family has received the tax cuts for the middle class that the President and Vice President passed, and it has helped us tremendously.
"The President and Vice President have gone above and beyond for people like me and my family, and they stand for things like keeping school affordable. My older brother uses Pell Grants and college loans to be able to afford school, and I'm thankful for that. I want to be able to go to Florida State University one day, and now I know I don't have to worry about being able to afford it. Life would not be the way it is today if they hadn't taken office four years ago.
"The Vice President approached me and I was introduced to him as a ‘special guest.’ I was overwhelmed with different emotions. I had this impulse to hug him, so I did. And I cried. I think I even got tears on the Vice President's suit jacket! I met someone who has done so much for my family without even knowing us, and that was an incredible, overwhelming feeling. I felt like he really heard me, like he knew who I was. I am hugging the man who will help me and help our President move forward."
Kobe was very grateful for the chance to meet the Vice President, but he didn't want to leave without something for his brother.
"I explained to the Vice President that the reason I was there was because my older brother inspired me to do so. He said, 'Do you have his phone number?' Then he called him and said, 'Kaelin, this is Vice President Biden' and they chatted for about five minutes! He also signed my placard, and the last line of his note really has stuck with me. He wrote: 'It was a pleasure meeting you, keep the faith.'
"I'm definitely going to keep the faith, and the thing I'm most looking forward to is watching President Obama and Vice President Biden being sworn in for a second term on January 20th, 2013."
Today, Kobe is signing up to spend the last 34 days of this campaign working as hard to re-elect President Obama and Vice President Biden as they are working for him. Follow Kobe's lead and sign up to volunteer now.

Romney "Won" Debate with Record Number of Lies

Willard told a whopping 27 whoppers in 38 minutes.

Want to see the list?

Here they are, debunked by fact-checkers.

Much Better Employment Numbers

In September 2012, the USA gained 114,000 new jobs and unemployment dropped to 7.8%. This is not due to "people who have given up," but to actual new jobs. The economy has added 5.2 million private-sector jobs in 31 straight months.

"We are moving forward," Obama said  during a campaign rally in a Washington suburb. "After losing about 800,000 jobs a month when I took office, our businesses have now added 5.2 million new jobs over the past 2-1/2 years."
"This country has come too far to turn back now."

From the Washington Post:
"Unlike in August, the number improved for the right reason: not because people gave up looking for jobs, but because far more people reported having one." Read more here.

Heads on a Platter

Willard says he loves PBS, Big Bird and even Jim Lehrer, but will cut funding, which amounts to one THOUSANDTH of one percent savings. (0.001% of the budget)
