"She's Never Worked a Day in Her Life"

Two weeks ago, when this whole Hilary Rosen baloney began, I didn't have time to write about it. But it's a rainy Sunday afternoon so I thought now's a good time.

"She's never worked a day in her life."

That was CNN Contributor Hilary Rosen's response when Ann Romney was asked to speak to the issues of American mothers who have to work outside the home.

When "Thurston Romney the Third" was asked about issues dealing with working American women, he deferred to his wife. Hilary Rosen, who works for CNN, said that using Ann as a spokesperson for American working women was ridiculous because "she's never worked a day in her life."

A true statement.

She was talking about the work force, since the question was about women in the work force.

It wasn't a slam at moms, apple pie, the flag or Chevrolet, much as the manufactured outrage suggested.

Mrs. Thurston Romney the Third, or "Lovey" to her friends, chose to stay home and raise kids, unlike the typical American mother who has no choice if she wants her kids to eat.

In addition, Lovey Romney had cooks, nannies, au pairs, housekeepers, gardeners, stable hands, horse groomers, etc, which typical American mothers who have to work DON'T HAVE.

This whole silly fake controversy ended abruptly when Annie Romney ADMITTED on tape that this nonsense was "an early birthday present... I loved it."

"She's never worked a day in her life": a true statement.

Outrage: manufactured and revealed by Lovey's own words on tape.

To make matters worse, Thurston said, on tape, that mothers on welfare with kids as young as two years old should get out into the workforce to enjoy "the dignity of work," which his wife NEVER experienced.  So I'm inferring that Thurston thinks his own wife never earned "the dignity of work" since she never worked outside the home.

Where's the Regressive republican outrage about that?

Republican Jackass of the Week

It's our old friend, Dick Cheney.

Yes, that Dick Cheney.

The one who was wrong about everything during the Cheney/Bush Administration. Some of his more memorable lies and stupid quotes:

  • "My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators [in Iraq]." --March 16, 2003
  • "We know [Saddam Hussein's] been absolutely devoted to trying to acquire nuclear weapons, and we believe he has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons." --March 16, 2003
  • "In Iraq, a ruthless dictator cultivated weapons of mass destruction and the means to deliver them. He gave support to terrorists, had an established relationship with al Qaeda" --November 7, 2003
  • "I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency." -- on the Iraq insurgency, June 20, 2005
  •  "Go fuck yourself." --to Sen. Patrick Leahy, during an angry exchange on the Senate floor about profiteering by Halliburton, June 25, 2004
  • "I had other priorities in the sixties than military service." –on his five draft deferments, April 5, 1989
  • "On the question of so-called 'torture,' we don't do torture, we never have. It's not something that this administration subscribes to."
And Cheney persists in lying about the reasons he took America into two wars and how he cherry-picked information to forge fictitious links between Iraq’s former leader Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda, alleging they both plotted together the 9/11 attacks. He even has the audacity to blame his lies about Saddam having weapons of mass destruction on others while still justifying an Iraq war that cost over a trillion dollars, thousands of American lives, and an untold number of dead Iraqi civilians.

Sitting in a chair that resembles Archie Bunker's, this guy, who lied us into the war and occupation of Iraq and failed to keep the US safe against the worst 4 terrorist attacks in American history on 9/11, has recently called President Obama "an unmitigated disaster."

Yes, apparently it's "disastrous" to
  • end the 9 year occupation of Iraq;
  • stop the loss of 750,000 jobs a month and bring the US 25 months of positive job growth;
  • end institutionalized discrimination in the armed services;
  • sign the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act;
  • kill Osama Bin Laden;
  • assist in killing Muammar Khadaffy;
  • save General Motors and millions of connected jobs
  • pass health care reform
  • sign credit card reforms enacting consumer protections.
What a waste of a perfectly good donor heart.

A Few More Thoughts About the Trayvon Story

Trayvon's parents have both been unbelievably professional, calm and dignified throughout the most horrific ordeal of their lives. They have demanded nothing but an arrest and justice.

How un-American to demand justice, huh righties?

I agree with Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon's mother, that the self-appointed vigilante murderous thug owes the Martin family an apology. He should deliver it right after the trial, on his way to prison.

For the record, every time Al Sharpton spoke at a rally he called for peaceful, lawful demonstrations,  denounced violence, but demanded justice, despite the lies on Fox, referring to Sharpton as "a race baiter" and "inciting violence".

The so-called New Black Panthers -- all 4 of them -- represent nobody, including the original Black Panthers. Everyone has condemned their inappropriate talk. Only on the Corrupt Rupert Channel is this the main and constant issue, because it fits their narrative. It gives their angry, white, upper middle aged rightwing audience what it tunes in for.

"I think he's troubled with the charges," O'Mara (Zimmerman's new lawyer) said. "I think that he is troubled with the last number of weeks of what he's had to go through. This isolation."

Aww, the poor thing. Maybe he wouldn't be in this situation had he not decided to deem an American teenager walking on the street "suspicious" and "up to no good", stalk him and shoot him.

Wait, I have to wipe away a tear before I can finish this.

Hey, you shot and killed a kid who did nothing to you, pal. Now shut up. You'll get over your "troubled feeling" and isolation. Trayvon will never come back to life thanks to you. Hopefully they won't find a jury as stupid as the Casey Anthony and OJ juries were.

When the original 2 lawyers of the vigilante killer thug abandoned him last week, it was allegedly because they hadn't heard from him in a couple of days and didn't know where he was. In actuality, they had never met him in person. Not once. Yet they made all sorts of wild claims about him, including that his nose was broken, his head was bashed in, he felt threatened, it was self defense, etc. Once they lost contact with him (or better yet, once they found out his story was full of holes) they bailed out and threw him under the bus. Suddenly this "very credible, misunderstood person" was not in his right mind, not acting responsibly, a danger to himself and others, etc. Amazing how fast these two were able to pivot 180 degrees when they wanted to disassociate themselves from this thug.

The thug's defenders are always whining about "being tried by the media." Yet the thug's own father couldn't control himself, getting on TV several times -- mainly on the very sympathetic Fox Channel -- spouting hate against the President, and making all kinds of claims on Little George's behalf, ALL of which were hearsay and not admissible in court. Even the vigilante thug tried to inappropriately contact the special prosecutor personally, and when he failed at that, spoke to friendly, rightwing apologist Sean Hannity, looking for attention, promotion, publicity, fund raising and someone who would paint a sympathetic picture of him.

Zimmerman, this self-appointed vigilante murderous thug, is a Regressive republican. His Republican father spouted all the typical hate speech directed at the President when he simply offered condolences to the family and demanded an investigation. The new state attorney in this case, Angela Corey, is also a Republican, appointed by Republican Florida governor Rick Scott. So if the outcome is not what the racist righties are expecting, they have no Liberals to blame. Corey is charging Zimmerman with Second Degree Murder.

Ronald Reagan Supports the Buffett Rule!

Today's far rightwing Regressive republicans in congress have stamped their feet, folded their arms and petulantly insisted that they refuse to pass legislation known as the "Buffett Rule," which simply says that millionaires and billionaires should not be allowed to legally pay a much smaller tax rate than their secretaries pay. But a video of their hero, Saint Ronald Reagan Who Could Do No Wrong, shows that even he agrees with what we now call The Buffett Rule:

Call as many Republican House and Senate members as you can and tell them to pass the Buffett Rule!

UPDATE: The Senate failed to get a 60-vote majority last night despite poll numbers showing 72% of Americans favor passing this bill.
